I thought I got rid of the Japanese import tuner in me, but I guess old habits die hard.
As a owner of a Mugen ProKit.2 CR-X SiR (and no, not your junk eBay “Mugen”) the Mugen fanboy in me won’t go away.
In these hard economic times, the Honda Insight seems like a good purchase. And if you have extra money to blow on a real Mugen kit, you probably just got rid of the savings the high MPG the Insight just netted you right off the bat. But, the Mugen kit will reduce your coefficient drag, thus increasing your MPG. I have no idea about the math behind it, but I think eventually you’ll make that money back, and have a cool looking hybrid to boot.
There we go… I’ve always been partial to the neon colorway. They have officially become more appealing to me. Looks like the larger versions actually have sculpted parts instead of silkscreen guts.
Dunno what percent sizes will be available on this one, but here’s another Kaws Be@rbrick to add to your rapidly-appreciating-in-value-collection. Drops Feb 28th? Maybe?
I saw PB&J last year at the 9:30 Club. I think they’re ok, got sick of their album with their hit song Young Folks real fast even though it’s a pretty good album. Fujiya & Miyagi opened up for them, which I was actually looking forward to seeing them more than PB&J. Interesting enough Fujiya & Miyagi is headlining a show at the 9:30 club on this Thursday the 19th. Hit that up if you’re so inclined. I’d like to go, but have plans. Watch the video for their song Knickerbocker here: http://www.radarnois.com/blog/?p=1156
This new video for PB&J is pretty cool, shows the Japanese rockabilly dancers in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo. These guys have been doing this thing for a while. I’ve seen them do their stuff on the weekend in Yoyogi before. They’re real serious about their dancing. Don’t fuck with these dudes.
Coarsetoys is quickly becoming one of my favorite designer toy companies.
This is their new one, jaws, limited to 100, and a rotofugi version also limited to 100. Their attention to detail and packaging is absolutely amazing.
Death Squad BDU Jacket.
I really like their version of the Tiger Stripe DPM. This is an improvement over their previous versions I believe, color is a bit more subdued and gray. This kind of quality camo reminds me much of my beloved Maharishi.
Michelangelo’s The Finger
Great twist on the classic painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Goes great with their ongoing “Fuck You” motif.
Keep it up guys!
Pre-orders will be available sometime today I believe in the Triumvir web store.
I’ve been looking at backpacks for the past few days, mostly on HB. Seems everyone is dropping their new backpack designs right now. Here are a few that have caught my attention:
Colette x Visvim Ballistic 20L
I loved the Original Fake x Visvim chomper pack, but glad I didn’t cop, because this one is even more appealing.
TET from WTAPS posted a great little blurb about the careful balance of quality and cost of the external packaging that they use to help identify the brand and create an impact with the consumer. This is one of the big reasons I have much love and respect for Japanese brands and products. They see their offering as a big picture, not just the contents inside.
Quote:
They cannot be something inferior compared to the contents, but at the same time it cannot be something that will heavily affect the product retail price.
We try to stay aware of the balance as a total package.
When you get home and take a look at what is inside,
if you get the feeling of wanting to put something else in it afterwards,
it might be just right when it is something that can
serve you a little longer.
This is something that I have from the very beginning wanted to infuse into the approach of my own brand, and these words resonate very well with me. I hope even if I cannot start this way, I will be able to do so in the future.
