Most know what a KAWS fan I am. I’m on vacation right now, so just watch this vid and pick up a copy of the newest issue of i-D Magazine, completely worked by guest editor KAWS.

I know this show is a month away, but I just made their show poster and wanted to show it off. Mark your calendars!!!
If you haven’t heard The Vita Ruins, check out their MySpace. They’re taking a quick break from their studio work to deliver what is sure to be an awesome show.

They are also playing with another one of my favorite bands that hail from NYC, The Jaguar Club. These guys can get the most adhesive of wallflowers out to the floor to cut a rug.

ARE YOU A FLYING LOTUS FAN? WELL YOU NEED TO BE. SERIOUSLY.
In 2006 I was rummaging through the digital archives of boomkat.com in search of some of my favorites in the electronic music genre. I’m always willing to give an unfamiliar artist a listen in hopes of stumbling upon something so brilliant it’d make me feel ashamed to have slept. When I found Flying Lotus’s “1983″ I immediately realized I had accomplished just that. Boomkat allows you to give a couple tracks off every album they sell a quick listen, much like iTunes. So I pressed play and to this day I am glad I did. 1983 was in the rotation for months after that. It came as no surprise that Flying Lotus happens to be yet another great artist on the Warp Records label. Warp’s site is one I suggest you visit often as well.
My first impression of Flying Lotus was maybe this is a side project of Prefuse 73, maybe Flying Lotus is an alias of his. But no, he’s a completely different person. And the more I listened to FL the greater appreciation I gained for his style. It’s much different than Prefuse. When I listen to FL I feel like I should be in a disco in Brazil or Spain, surrounded by beautiful women, drinking exotic cocktails and expensive liquor and getting bent out of my mind. Apparently, if I wasn’t a bum, I could have made my fantasy a reality several times over by now considering Flying Lotus has been all over the world. And the photos from his shows look very much the way I’ve imagined them.
For those of you that watch Adult Swim with any frequency you are already familiar with Flying Lotus whether you’ve bothered to do some research or not. FL gets mad play during the Adult Swim title screens along with artists such as J Dilla/Jay Dee (R.I.P.) and others which Adult Swim has been gracious enough to plug since its conception. That’s one thing I’ve always dug about the Swim: tasty beats to accompany my indulgence of mindless animation.
If you haven’t purchased or pirated 1983 or FL’s “Reset” EP you should do that post haste. They’re both available on iTunes and various other sites which I have linked below. Flying Lotus has a new album out called Los Angeles which is also available (it’s ILL, FRESH, DOPE, and all that). I bought his single with J Sands called “Light A Dub To This” which is definitely worth the $1.98 on iTunes. It’s real chill as the title implies. What else? I don’t know. Go give the man a listen. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Unless you suck, in which case I can’t help you. I pity the fool.

VAST AIRE “DUECES WILD”, 2008 ONE RECORDINGS, AVAILABLE NOW!
Another certified banger by the God, Vast Aire, hit the streets two days ago. I don’t even have to say the album is ill. As always Vast’s flow speaks for itself. Vast is Harlem. Vast is BKLYN. Vast is NYC fully. Personally I’ve anticipated this release for the past two years, maybe more. I can’t even remember (it’s been that long). I do remember the first time I heard the first track “you know” and was immediately sold, but it doesn’t take much to sell me on a Vast Aire album let alone a track. I have heard Vast flow over some whack shit with some lame artists, but when he drops his own material it’s 95% certifiable like USDA organic products. And if Vordul Megallah is on it… forget about it. You might as well retire all your favorite records.
I’m not gonna waste your time with a long winded post. I don’t need to praise the God. It’d be redundant of me to go on and on about a dude who has written the soundtrack to my life for the past 10+ years. I mean this dude gets more plays than a Street Fighter arcade game. This particular album features production by Nathaniel Roberts (among several others) who I started to mess with after Look Mom… No Hands dropped. This album features various cohorts you should be familiar with by now such as Geechi Suede (Camp Lo), Copywrite (MHz, ODOT), Vordul Megallah (Can O, Spitamatic), Double AB, Swave Seva, Thanos, Karniege, Genesis (LXG members). Verdict: production is fire, flows are fire, Vast Aire is fire raining down on the globe like biblical brimstone. If you aren’t a fan, YOUZ A LAME. “You know you really like it. You know you, you know you really like it. You know you, you know you really like it.”
Album is available via sandboxautomatic (CD $13), iTunes ($9.99), probably amazon and other sites/stores that sell hip hop records. Go cop it!

In4mation in Honolulu got these in yesterday, the new collab shoe from WTAPS and Vans. A real clean design (sorry doubletap, no pun intended towards your previous post
). In4mation is taking phone orders, when their phone works… (tried to call them to inquire about the price, but no answer. Apparently they’ve been having phone problems recently).

UPDATE: Was able to contact In4mation. They still got ‘em, so feel free to call, they’re taking orders on all 3 colorways.
So I picked up these OG Nike Air Skylons the other day thinking that i can make some $ with them, funds are low and still no word on a job yet. Out of sheer laziness, I decided to throw them in the washer on a delicate cycle since the meshing was pure filth. The outcome however was quite tragic, another og bites the dust! I guess I’m only short $3.49 and an amazing piece of Nike Air history. Oh, well… I feel like a jackass!

All you guys who grew up in the 80’s must remember Back to the Future II, where Michael J. Fox wore slick automatic lacing Nike shoes, dubbed “Air McFly” or “McFly 2015″ by sneakerheads. (He also had self drying jacket and rode a hover board, which my friends swore up and down is a real invention coming out soon lol)
People have been clamoring for an official release of the Air McFly’s, and Nike even has a patent on them (Viewable here on Neatorama: http://www.neatorama.com/2007/08/09/the-mcfly-2015-patents/) There is even a website dedicated to petitioning Nike for the release of the proper McFly 2015 here: www.mcfly2015.com
Looks like Nike still hasn’t figured out the automatic laces, so they’ve opted to release a Hyperdunk “inspired” by the Air McFly (which notably the Hyperdunk style was really inspired by the Air McFly to begin with).
You can cop these in size nine NOW for a whopping $2015 at marqueesole.com
Per the report on sneakerfiles, they should properly release early July, and hopefully for a price that doesn’t reflect inflation in 2015.

I mean, the Tobacco industry in Japan quite possibly has the best marketing schemes over any country.
Check this out.
KOOL BOOST Powerball menthol cigarettes

While my choice Japanese cigarettes are Mild Seven PRIME, and I don’t smoke menthols, I would definitely try these once. squeeze the butt where the powerball is located, and you get a burst of flavor. Almost makes you forget that you’ll get lung cancer.
(on a side note, I hope to be nicotine free after going to Vegas for MAGIC in August. My last quit streak of 6 months was broken after going to watch PRIDE in Vegas 2 years ago, so I’m not even going to try to quit until after leaving Sin City. What happened in Vegas obviously didn’t stay in Vegas.)

I like Karaoke and Rock Band has been the best reason for owning a 360 or PS3 (until MGS4) in my opinion, so the Japanese game Vocaliod is pretty much right up my alley. Adorable Anime character designs and Karaoke are instant win for me- here’s a picture of the main squeeze, Hatsune Miku.
Until they had to go and shit it up with Gackt.
For those unfamiliar, Gackt is a really pretty singer who makes women cry and most men question their sexuality. He is also known for making up elaborate pseudo-persona’s such as him actually being a 400 year old European vampire named Kamui. You know, Kamui- one of the oldest European names in history.
Well, his hand has fallen into Vocaloid pretty much insuring that it will plaugue our import stores at horribly gouged prices for the next couple years. The songs are mediocre at best and the design (which they say were penned by none other than Berserk author Miura Kentarou) is probably the most disappointing of all. It looks genderless and like it was made in about 3 minutes, especially in comparison to the designs for all the other vocaloids in the game who have a nice hash of school uniforms and futuristic techno/rave gear. Which if you hadn’t guessed already, I am all about.
Here’s a larger picture of this abomination:
Here’s a link to a blurb about the new game which looks like it will run buyers just under $200.
It blows my mind that this design came from the same mind that brought us Guts.
To combat my disgust with this game, I am now going to play some Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

Just recieved this the other day. Most are used to online lookbooks and magazines to display a collection or line for an upcoming season. Count on some of streetwears leading names (Stussy and Neighborhood) to push the envelope with their new collaborative collection, Boneyards. Taking inspiration from secret location in San Pedro, Stussy x Neighborhood came up with a collection dedicated to this secret surf spot. Upon the release, they decided to release a newspaper, yes newspaper, giving insight on the collection as well as the artist and minds behind it. Interview with Paul Mittleman (Stussy), Takishin (Neighborhood), Tonomori Tanaka (RIP), and Rob Abeyta Jr. (Stussy). Then you will find a brief look at the collection with a photoshot done by Reggie Casagrande, as well as a look at the complete line, as well as brief bios of the artist. All done on newspaper.

Very nice and the collection only gets better.
The Jeans will be available in the August drop.
